CAD/CAM PFM

CAD/CAM PFM combines the precision of computer―aided design and manufacturing with the proven aesthetics of porcelain―fused―to―metal restorations. The metal coping is milled from a pre―sintered metal disc using a 5―axis milling machine, eliminating human error in the fabrication process.

This results in a highly accurate, perfectly fitting framework that serves as the foundation for hand―layered or pressed porcelain aesthetics. CAD/CAM PFM is the gold standard for cases demanding both strength and esthetic precision.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

The metal coping is designed digitally using CAD software and then milled from a pre-sintered cobalt-chromium disc using a 5-axis CNC milling machine. After milling, the coping is sintered in a high-temperature furnace to achieve its final density and hardness. Porcelain is then hand-layered or pressed over the sintered coping.
CAD/CAM milling produces highly consistent and reproducible copings with excellent marginal accuracy. It eliminates human variables in the wax-up and casting process, reduces internal porosity in the metal, and is fully compatible with digital impression workflows. The result is a coping that requires minimal fitting adjustments and provides a reliable foundation for the porcelain layer.
Yes. We accept STL files from all major intraoral scanners (iTero, 3Shape Trios, Cerec, Planmeca, and others). Simply send the STL files along with a prescription specifying the shade, alloy preference, and pontic design if applicable.
Standard turnaround for CAD/CAM PFM is 6–7 working days due to the sintering step after milling. If you require a metal try-in, please indicate this on the prescription to allow appropriate scheduling.
